“The workshop has taken dance at the school to a new level – the physical intensity of the work they´ve done has awakened awareness of what dance is about” – Alison Andrews, head of dance, Devizes school, England, 2007

Panta Rei Danseteater (PRD) will in collaboration with CODAUng and the Oslo city district of Stovner cooperate on a dance project for 80 pupils at Stovner College (Stovner VGS), and dancers from the youth club The Planet. In addition, teachers at the college will receive an introduction to contemporary dance teaching methods.

PRD will together with the young people create four short choreographies, each 3-4 minutes in duration. The choreographies will be inspired by the pupils’ own experiences from football, skiing, hockey, gymnastics, dance, etc. The dance works will entail a number of lifts and be physically demanding but always with a point of departure in the pupils’ own resources, experiences and knowledge.

All of the work carried out in connection with the project will be based on the terms create, perform and appreciate. These are terms that PRD always uses in its workshop activities and seminars based on the company’s artistic practice.
Both girls and boys will participate in the project and Stovner’s culturally diverse local population will be also represented.

The culmination of the project will be a performance at Stovner VGS in the school’s new culture hall. Both choreographies by the young people and new works by PRD will be presented. The result of the project will also be shown at Dansens Hus in the interval of PRD´s new production WeFiction & Private Rite on the 22nd and 23d of October.
