Marek Jez
Dancer, teacher

Marek Jez was born in Gdańsk, Poland. He is graduated from the State Ballet School in Gdansk and at The Royal Swedish Ballet School, Stockholm. Marek Jez danced at the Malmö City Theatre in 1990 before he joined the Norwegian National Ballet, where he in 1995 was promoted to soloist. In 1993 he received the Esso Prize.

At The Norwegian National Ballet Marek Jez has danced Ariel and Caliban in Tetley’s The Tempest and Franz in Coppelia. He has also danced Mercutio in Corder’s Romeo & Juliet, the jester in Holmes’’ Swan Lake, the title role in Tetley’s Rite of Spring, Puck in Sund’’s A Midsummer Night’’s Dream, the house’’s son in Tetley’s La Ronde, the joker in Cranko’s Jeux De Cartes, Gremio in Crankos Taming of the Shrew, and the jester plus one of stepsisters in Stevenson’s Cinderella.

Short class description

The classes are based on the Vaganova method and adjusted and developed to today’’s standards of classical ballet. Marek Jez has teached at Bårdar Danseinstitutt, Terpsi Dansestudio (Norske Balletthøyskole), Norsk Ballettinstittut and Operaens Ballettskole.
