Want to join CODA from the inside? – Become a volunteer!
CODA is dependent on volunteers to be able to carry out the festival! As a volunteer you contribute with one or more tasks beforehand or during the festival. You get an unique opportunity to experience the work behind a larger cultural production. Experience is not required, but we expect you to show up and do your best during the shift.
What do I get as a volunteer?
- Merch
- A free meal (if you work over 4,5h)
- Network within the performing arts field
- Participate in the festival program
- Valuable work experience and a volunteer certificate
At CODA we highly value accessibility and diversity. All volunteers will therefore get an introduction into which way we facilitate needs and how the accessibility is at each location we use in our program.
We will do our best to make sure you get to see a show of your choosing, either by free capacity at the venue or admission at the dress rehearsal. Unfortunately we can’t promise that you get to see the performance you are working at, that depends on the capacity. If there are still free seats after the audience has been let in, volunteers will always get a seat.
How much do I work?
As a volunteer at CODA you have to work a minimum of 12 hours over two shifts, either in preparations of the festival or during. The length of the shifts will vary from task to task. CODA is a long festival, if you want to contribute more than what’s required, you are welcome to do so!
What kind of tasks can I get?
We try our best to take your wishes into consideration, but we can’t promise you will get exactly the task or the day you want.
The different tasks:
Audience host
We need volunteers that can be CODAs own audience hosts. You will be CODAs face outwards, provide information about the festival and hand out the possible leftover tickets for the performances. Every venue has their own staff that takes care of registration of the tickets, but as a volunteer you are CODAs representative. We will do our best to make sure there are two volunteers together at all times.
Seminar host
Volunteer tasks that fall under the professional program will vary, but might include preparations and serving, taking care of the participants, registration and cleaning up afterwards. As a volunteer within this category you will be able to sit in on most of the program, so this is an excellent opportunity to learn.
Diverse
This is the category for you if you want to work in preparation for and during the festival. For this task we need you to be able to show up on short notice and be eager to help with whatever tasks. This category is in addition to two other shifts. With the unpredictability of this task you might be asked to meet a specific time and place, or we might ask you to be on-call for the day.
We may need help with assisting or following artists or production teams, covering volunteer shifts, assisting with shopping, transport, logistics etc.
Production assistant
For some of the productions we might need extra help. In that case we want production assistants that are able to follow a project over multiple days. You will have close contact with the producer and will be handed a variety of tasks as you go. This task is relevant for those who want extra experience and want to learn more about the production side of the performing arts.
If you are interested and available for big parts or the whole period, please apply.
(Everyone has to work a minimum of two shifts, but if you are able and eager you are welcome to work more)
*The application is binding and we expect you to notify us as soon as possible if you are not able to meet for your shift. If you are to become ill, we will be expecting a medical certificate.
We are looking so much forward to meeting all of you and getting the festival started!
