Guintche

Black Box theatre

22. October - Kl 20.00

This solo performance derives from a character that Marlene Monteiro Freitas drew as a memento of a concert.

She called it Guintche, and meanwhile it took on a life of its own, acquired autonomy and rebelled.Guintche means bird or prostitute in creole, a language spoken in Cape Verde where Freitas was born. It can also stand for an attitude of someone who jumps from one event to another, lacking coherence in his or her choices. On stage Freitas recreates this contradictory creature that melts, solidifies, breaks and changes form. Yet it keeps the same nature.
