The DEN – Dance Expo Norway is a platform for sharing Norwegian dance art and will be held for the fifth time in 2025. By creating a venue for performances, studio showings, pitches, and networking, The DEN contributes to promoting works by dance artists based in Norway to international and national curators, producers, and industry organizations.
The project has been running for five years and consists of three main elements:
- To be a showcase for Norwegian dance, a platform where dance artists based in Norway can present their works and projects to international and national organizers and producers.
- To offer seminars and knowledge development for producers, artists, and organizers in the independent dance field.
- To facilitate informal networking opportunities, such as coffee breaks and table pitching, where artists and organizers meet to exchange interests and ideas in an inclusive and relaxed atmosphere.
History:
The DEN was initiated in 2018 by CODA Oslo International Dance Festival in collaboration with twelve other dance institutions, organizers, and producers within the dance art field, with the then Executive Director Live Rosenvinge at the helm. The project received support from the Arts Council Norway and the City of Oslo for a three-year period. In 2023, CODA continued the platform without new funding, but in collaboration with Dansens Hus, Bærum Kulturhus, Black Box Teater, and with support from Performing Arts Hub Norway. The platform continues to evolve to meet the needs of the field and proudly continues its collaboration with the aforementioned organizations through 2025.
The partners represent large parts of the dance field in Norway and are a targeted effort to strengthen the industry and provide presentation opportunities for dance artists from Norway.
