The Roots

Bærum Kulturhus

18. October - Kl 18.00

Kader Attou and his Cie Accrorap is one of the foremost representatives of French hip hop/contemporary dance.

Their dance expression is a synthesis of street dance, acrobatics and contemporary dance. The Roots treats us to 11 exceptional dancers on stage, each with a particular style. The universe on stage is made up of everyday things – a table, an LP crackling on a turntable – childhood memories. The music plays a key role as it moves and convenes the dancers: Brahms, Beethoven, and electro-funk – the melodies open doors to a community in the dance. The Roots is an explosive performance, like a journey into the core of street dance: physical accomplishment, cohesion and dancing pleasure.

Inspired by a multitude of movement expressions and artistic meetings, he believes in exploration, exchange and sharing, dialogue and building bridges.

Kader Attou has been director of CCN de La Rochelle since 2008, where he is both a choreographer and artistic director. The Roots premiered in 2013, and the performance is still on tour in France and internationally.
