Drawing inspiration from his multicultural melting pot, choreographer Sang Jijia has created a tremendous, complex, and beautiful work for 10 dancers. The production Not here/Not ever premiered at the Bergen International Festival and is the first encounter between a Tibetan-Chinese choreographer and a Nordic contemporary dance company. The various scenes tell short stores awakening wonder and joy.

The prize-winning choreographer studied folk dance in China for 6 years, but when he saw China’s first modern dance company, he was fascinated by the vast range of expression and began working towards a more contemporary movement language. He studied choreography with William Forsythe, among others and danced in his company until 2006.
Sang Jijia is choreographer for the Chinese contemporary dance companies BeijingDance/LDTX and Guangdong Modern Dance Company. His works employ visual art, architecture and multimedia – with an Eastern aesthetic.
