THE COMPLEX AND REBELLIOUS BODY
Høyskolen Kristiania
17. October - Kl 14.30
The Polish dance artist Tatiana Cholewa leads a unique movement workshop that redefines the concept of the dancer.
Cholewa describes herself as a “movement person,” a dancer and performer who creates professional art with a complex and rebellious body.
She believes that her presence on the stage redefines the concept of the dancer, as it disrupts previous notions of a dancing body. The wheelchair is a part of her movement pattern and sometimes a prop. Her movements stem from her lived experiences of limitations in daily life, yet this reality enables her to create new work.
In this workshop, participants will work individually, one-on-one, and in larger groups. Participants are encouraged to explore their bodies by focusing on themselves and their own movement needs, seeking common elements in diversity, and ultimately, collective action in various configurations.
The workshop is part of the ‘Obecność / Presence’ project and is presented in collaboration with the dance club Fristil, with support from ZAMEK Culture Center in Poznan, Poland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway Grants, provided through the EEA Grants.
