The Nordic region’s largest festival for contemporary dance is looking for a new Artistic Director
The foundation CODA Oslo International Dance Festival annually organizes the Nordics’ largest festival for contemporary dance. For over 20 years, CODA has worked to strengthen dance and performing arts nationally. We present Norwegian and international contemporary dance of high quality, and the festival is a catalyst and a meeting point for a diverse range of artists and guests.
We are now looking for a new Artistic Director with a passion for programming diverse and ground breaking contemporary dance from home and abroad.
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND CEO
CODA OSLO INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL
Since it was founded in 2001, CODA has developed into a recognized and well-reputed festival, considered a melting pot for the development of dance in Norway. The program has regularly consisted of performances, workshops and seminars, and involves a number of national and international dance artists, with a range of expressions. In 2023, there were a total of 50 events in the program over 10 days.
CODA is a small, well-run and dynamic organisation. We regularly apply for public support from the Arts and Culture Norway and Oslo Municipality, and are members of several European networks. The festival is held annually in October. The festival’s administration has a year-round office at Dansens Hus, Oslo, and consists of two permanent employees, as well as the festival director/artistic director. The organisation’s highest decision-making body is the foundation’s Board.
The Artistic Director/CEO has primary responsibility for artistic programming and the practical implementation of the festival. The person also acts as day-to-day manager of the business and its administration, reporting to the Board.
For the position of artistic director/CEO, we are looking for a person with solid professional knowledge of contemporary dance and creative flair. You will have a great commitment to the art form, and will be genuinely interested in contributing to the further development of the Norwegian dance field.
We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Relevant experience with experience from leadership and development of artistic activities
- Broad knowledge of Norwegian and international contemporary dance, with a large professional network
- Knowledge of public administration and publicly funded business
- Good overall budget understanding
- Good language skills, both written and oral
Personal characteristics:
- Creates a positive working environment in a small, productive team

- Solution-oriented and thrives in hectic situations
- Takes and gives responsibility
- Good collaboration and communication skills
- Practical sense and good implementation skills
The position is a fixed-term position of four years, with the possibility of extension.
Salary in accordance with agreement. Start date 01.08. 2024, with a need for overlap/training during the spring of 2024.
