Perhaps it ends in silence.

A silence behind the silence. The silence you find high up in the mountains, at night, when the only thing you hear is the sound of your own heartbeats. Perhaps it ends in a meeting whilst singing by the campfire. Or perhaps it never ends. What happens if there is no end? A process. A performance. Perhaps it continues because everybody’s got something to cling onto.

These are times we cannot yet envisage. We can practise, we can prepare for the unexpected; inopiné. “How to die” is a multi-disciplinary (-scientifical) examination of ecological mourning, cultural panic, and a sense of collapse.

The performance “How to die – Inopiné” creates itself, continually, as it is performed. It also produces more and more connections, between bodies, spaces and materials. The scenographic material will be sourced locally, wherever the show is performed.

How to die – Inopiné, has led to a series of different projects as part of the same research lineage: HOW, a project together with the urbanist initiative Counterfactual about art in public spaces and urban development with youth from Groruddalen, KORDAN which is a three day site specific trilogy in outdoor spaces, and How to. A score developed together with Janne-Camilla Lyster premiering in 2022 with six dance artists from all over the world.

Mia Habib is an Oslo based dancer and choreographer working in the field where scenic art, exhibitions, publications, lectures, teaching, guiding and curating intersect. She holds a choreographer’s degree from Kunsthøgskolen, Oslo and a Masters in conflict resolution and negotiations from the University of Tel Aviv. Her shows have been co-produced by and performed at several institutions all over the world.

Mia Habib Productions (MHP) was established in 2004. It is supported by Art Council Norway.

NB: Strobe lights will be in use during this performance. As will (non-harmful) theatre smoke. Some dialogue will be performed in English. The performance will come to its conclusion outdoors.

This performance is a collaboration with Bærum Kulturhus
