Ulrik Ibsen Thorsrud is an improviser/drummer based in Oslo. With a jazz background he works within the European improv-tradition fused with electronic and electro-acoustic elements. He constantly works towards expanding the sonic possibilities of the drum kit using a variety of extended techniques and electronics. His main project is Parallax, an improv trio that, since being formed in 2008, has released 3 records and toured extensively in Europe, Asia and South-America.
The trio mainly works within free improvisation, but has collaborated with a variety of artists, musicians and composers on several commissions. In 2011 Parallax worked and performed with the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble in Hong Kong, in 2013 they performed with cellist/composer Mariano Bulligan on his piece «nOdes» and in September 2015 they will perform «A Parallax View» with Anders Tveit at the ULTIMA festival in Oslo. Ulrik also performs extensively for children with the projects «Lydrommet» and «Lyden av Munch».
Kristin Ryg Helgebostad graduated from Oslo National Academy of the Arts with an MA in choreography and a BA in modern and contemporary dance. Kristin creates her own pieces, collaborates with other artists as well as being a performer. She is part of the trio Berstad / Helgebostad / Wigdel who created the performance “Soil Girl”. The play premiered at Black Box Theatre and has toured 15 different venues nationally and internationally, through networks like Aerowaves and ICE HOT.
She also works with Eivind Seljeseth and Ingeleiv Berstad currently presenting their performance ” On historical ground” which will tour in their self-designed signature building, placed outside 15 of Norways’s cultural houses. Along with Berstad she recently premiéred LOUDSPEAKERS / BIRTH MARK with Carte Blanche at the festival Festspillene in Bergen and as well as her own production ME TOO, which will soon be presented at BIT Bergen, 4 + 4 in Motion in Prague and at Teaterhuset Avantgarden. She receives a two year Government Grant for younger, newly established artists in 2015/16.
