Plan X
Rom for Dans
18. October - Kl 18.00
The performance’s improvised artistic framework expresses proximity, attentiveness, acceptance and creative response. The performers have freedom of choice on stage − to react or not react (e.g. stillness), explore and challenge time and permanence, linger over fragments and play with displacements of time. The expression can move into an unpredictable landscape, and create complex structures that could not have arisen in any other manner except through improvisation.
CODA Impro happened for the first time in 2007 with three nights of multiple-bill programs at the Rom for Dans theatre. Coda Impro is aiming at showing improvised work covering the range from students to highly accomplished dance artists with lots of experience. The event in 2007was a great success; the performances were sold out and well received by an enthusiastic audience.
CODA Impro makes visible and presents dance improvisation in performance. Improvised dance has during the last decade established itself as an independent theatre genre in Norway as well as world wide. To the audience improvisation on stage is still a fairly new experience which gives artistic variety and diversity, and which has the unique quality of being created in the very moment. The dancers are shown as creative artists and improvisation in performance appears innovative and original; and any improvisation can be regarded as a premiere. We look forward to expand our event and invite international as well as Norwegian performers in the future.
CODA Impro has an informal atmosphere which provides a creative space for exceptional dance to happen and people to meet. Where spontaneity is appreciated and dance artists work compositionally combining skill and intuition making perfect choices right in front of you.
