Portrait of a dancer

Dansens Hus

28. September - Kl 17.00

Virtually no other dancer has a more intimate relationship to Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch than Lutz Förster. He became a member of the company in the 1970s and has danced and toured in a countless number of her productions worldwide. In the piece Portrait of a Dancer he looks back at his dance career by showing excerpts of works by eminent choreographers of his generation: Susanne LinkeRobert Wilson and last, but not least, Pina Bausch.

But this solo work is more than a dancer’s biography. It is a work about the relation between life and art, between roles and individuals; it is a monologue, a story and a solo dance in one, it is dance history and – above all – it is a tribute to Pina Bausch.
It has been said about Lutz Förster that he has David Bowie’s appearance and Fred Astaire’s elegance. The CODA festival’s audience can look forward to an intimate and beautiful dance work, an evening full of spiritual atmosphere and poetry, with a dance legend on stage.
