WHY?

‘Why?’ is a vertical dance duet which formed the keystone for Gravity & Levity’s first full length touring production in 2004. Now the work has been re-imagined for #codadancefest19 with the same creative team and cast 15 years later.

Two people faced with a wall. Waiting, time rushing by, suspended, drifting. Acceptance. Surrender.

This duet creates a sense of the unknown, inviting the audience to experience a visceral connection to the work and challenging perceptions and perspectives.

Gravity & Levity is an aerial dance company led by Artistic Director Lindsey Butcher to rigorously explore the creative and expressive potential in applying a dance aesthetic to aerial suspension techniques, liberating and intensifying the possibilities of each. The company’s work has been instrumental in pushing the boundaries of aerial dance, offering an alternative to traditional aesthetics in both dance and circus. Gravity & Levity works with multi art form artists, across both indoor and outdoor arenas.
