Vårt Land (2019)

Choreographer Ingun Bjørnsgaard and dancer Camilla Spidsøe delve into the depths of some of Ibsen’s iconic women – those who sink due to hardships.

Henrik Ibsen’s Rosmersholm, The Lady from the Sea, and Hedda Gabler are often referred to as ‘the Munich Trilogy’, encompassing his most iconic female characters: Rebekka West, Elida Wangel, and Hedda Gabler.

These three plays serve as the foundation for Bjørnsgaard and Spidsøe’s profound dance work – exploring the choices we make and their impact on us.

Audiences and critics alike were captivated when their version of the Munich Trilogy premiered in 2019. During the 2024 CODA festival, the critically acclaimed performance returns to the Norwegian Opera House – once again featuring Spidsøe and fellow dancer Ole Willy Falkhaugen on stage, alongside actress Andrine Sæther and a string quartet.

Ingun Bjørnsgaard is one of the most renowned and experienced choreographers we have in Norway, and she always creates a unique and fascinating universe on stage. She has previously created a number of performances based on Ibsen’s dramas – including ‘Hedda’ for Ballet de Lorraine and ‘Rotating Nora’ for Ingun Bjørnsgaard Prosjekt.
