Triple bill with JINX 103 / Døgnetiktenes debatt / Creature

Riksscenen

27. October - Kl 20.00

Triple bill consist of three contemporary performances all rooted in traditional dance.

JINX 103 by József Trefeli and Gábor Varga has become a sensation around the world. The two male Hungarian dancers, one born in Australia and the other in the USSR, stand shoulder to shoulder as they deconstruct and reinvent their common dance heritage. Through a vocabulary of vibrant body percussion they create a breathtakingly energetic dance of lightning fast footwork, high kicks and turning jumps.

In Døgeniktenes debatt dancers and artists Ådne Kolbjørnshus and Vetle Springgard tell us the story – their story – of two children born on a farm at the end of the last Century. They could have become farmers themselves; instead they became artists – or useless loafers as some might say. Through explosive folk dance and humorous observations they invite us into an honest conversation about family values, heritage and wanting to do better.

Creature is a new choreographic adventure for Trelefi and Varga. It’s is a work about origins – biographical, ethnographic, socio-cultural or aesthetic – showing us the kinship between the language of contemporary dance and the exoticism of folk dances. The result is a surprising piece, crazy with energy, rich with self-deprecating humour and spiced by extravagant costumes.
